Can Basement Floors Sweat? [And What To Do About It]
If the condensation is not curbed, the concrete floor will eventually develop white spots caused by evaporation of moisture from the same concrete floor that absorbed the moisture before. Concrete absorbs moisture from the basement, and if there is no barrier, it will seep through, causing your floor to sweat. To prevent this, the following signs indicate that your concrete floor has moisture in it:Unexplained cracks or fissures in the concrete
White residue on the concrete floor
Dark discoloration on concrete
Black spots at the bottom of walls or any other flooring
Musty smells
The air is abnormally humid
In conclusion
Concrete floors can sweat due to condensation from a hot day or water seeping in from the basement.
Moisture Problems In Concrete Floors – Preventing Sweating Slab Syndrome
Although concrete flooring is very durable, moisture is one of the few factors that can quickly cause wear and tear and problems in a commercial installation. In Denver, where winter temperatures can cause water to freeze and expand, moisture can cause stress and cracks in concrete. While this can be a difficult problem if left unaddressed, there are various solutions to sweaty slab syndrome in a commercial property that can help you manage moisture issues. When the warmer air comes into contact with the cold ground, the hydrogen and oxygen molecules quickly cool, turning into water and condensing into droplets on the concrete slab. The accumulation of salts in the concrete slab can aggravate the problem because the salt will promote the absorption of moisture and when the capacity is reached, this salt will dissolve and release the collected moisture from the interior of the concrete slab. concrete. With Denver's low relative humidity, sweaty slab syndrome is not as common as in other parts of the country, but on days with higher humidity or commercial properties that have high indoor moisture content may encounter this problem. Based on the condition of a concrete floor and the temperature differences between the air, some of the ways to reduce concrete sweating and problems associated with concrete moisture include:Improve Ventilation - When possible, increasing your property's ventilation can significantly reduce humidity. Colorado Concrete Repair installs commercial flooring with leading solutions for commercial garages, storage facilities, warehouses, manufacturing plants, healthcare facilities, and more.
Concrete Sweating: What Is It And How To Prevent It
Concrete sweating, or more technically known as SSS (Sweating Slab Syndrome) occurs when water droplets collect on the surface of a concrete structure. The phenomena usually occur overnight and can make the concrete structure appear to be sweating, hence the name. When the concrete is colder than the dew point (the temperature at which water vapor in the air begins to condense into liquid), the moisture in the air adheres to the concrete. Which, to untrained eyes, gives the impression that the concrete has started to sweat. Basement humidityA much rarer phenomenon, it occurs when the concrete itself retains some humidity inside. When concrete is formed, a lot of water is used to set the cement. This, in turn, pushes water out of concrete slabs or structures. In this case, we can say that the concrete really transpires, since the water comes from inside, not from outside. For example, if the concrete slab is adjacent to moisture (wet ground or body of water), the capillaries of porous concrete can draw moisture from the wet surface to the dry surface. Also, if the concrete mix contains salts, due to their hygroscopic nature, the salts will attract water into the concrete. The material on top of the concrete can also be the culprit for attracting water, such as dust or rubber. Mainly, over time mold can start to form or the concrete itself can show alkaline damage. A more direct or immediate problem may be that the sweaty concrete surface can become very slippery and slippery, endangering pedestrians and traffic. Alkaline attack
More commonly known as concrete cancer, it is technically called an alkali-silica reaction (AAR). This causes swelling and outward pressure inside the concrete structure, which can lead to cracking or spalling. Also, since ASR results are nowhere as strong as concrete, it will mean gradually losing the strength of concrete. This will not only reduce the quality and aesthetics of the concrete structure, but it can also cause airborne allergies and lung problems.

Why Does My Concrete Floor Sweat?
A simple test to find the source of moisture in concrete:To find out if the dampness in your concrete is caused by moisture or vapor barrier issues—
Tape a 2 x 2 foot square of plastic tarp to dry concrete
Wait at least 48 hours
Remove the plastic and check for moisture condensation
If there are beads of moisture: a faulty or missing vapor barrier is likely the culprit - Bone Dry Products is your best solution.
No beading moisture: Your problems are probably related to moisture. Improved ventilation and temperature control will solve humidity problems.
Shop Bone Dry's line of vapor barriers and concrete treatment products to solve your concrete moisture problems. Bone Dry Sealers and Etch-A-Crete Help Solve Your Concrete Moisture Problems

Damp Garage Floor – Solutions For Damp Concrete
Customers come to us all the time about their wet garage floor, so we're here to help fix it and prevent your floor from feeling damp and causing further problems. In order to solve moisture problems, you must first understand why your concrete floor is damp. It is common practice to install a sheathing membrane in modern construction these days, but it will always be beneficial to check and see if this could be the reason for your wet concrete floor. If the moisture proof course is above ground level, the exposed masonry will most likely still be damp, which will consequently affect the moisture levels in your floor. How do I know what problem I'm facingReduce air humidity with a dehumidifier
Increase the air temperature in the garage
Change the surface of the garage floor - Our garage floor coating is an ideal solution
Check door seals
How to make concrete floors moisture resistant
To find out where the moisture is coming from, you can perform a simple test. However, if the underside of the plastic is wet, you likely have a moisture problem under the slab. If you are having condensation issues, try the following:
In an ideal world, moisture sealing methods should be taken up during the initial construction phase of the garage. But, if these methods are non-existent or have somehow failed, here are some ideas for solving and resealing your wet garage floor. Moisture barrier membranes for concrete
I know we're repeating ourselves, but a moisture proof membrane is one of the most basic methods of sealing off a damp floor. Inserted between the hard core and the concrete floor, this waterproof layer will prevent rising damp. liquid membrane
Epoxy Floor Coatings & Concrete Sealers
GFTC PVC Floor Tiles
A liquid membrane, just like the membrane above, will create a protective layer that will prevent moisture from reaching the surface of your garage floor. Instead of inserting a sheet between the two layers, you paint the liquid membrane directly on the floor, creating an impenetrable barrier against moisture. Similar to a liquid membrane, an epoxy coating is painted over the surface of a wet garage floor, but two coats are required. Commonly used in industrial settings, it can also be used for domestic garages and wet concrete floors. Moving away from all types of membranes, we believe this is the best way to solve your long term wet garage floor problems! GTFC's interlocking PVC floor tiles will completely transform your garage space, lasting a lifetime without any worry of damp or cold. By installing them on any type of garage floor, they provide a barrier in themselves, keeping out both dust and moisture and remaining durable for years to come.

No problem, I appreciate your help, the house is stone, I bought it 3 years ago and that was the ground in it. The main wall in the picture is the side wall of our house which is on the slope, the wall with radiator is level and the front of our house. Earlier in the week I had the outside wall pointed at ground level where the house meets the sidewalk because there was an inch wide gap with weeds growing etc. I thought this might solve the problem.
